The Canopy Method

The Canopy Method is DashCanopy’s approach to multi-site monitoring: add each site as a tile under one canopy, run health checks on a plan cadence, pull visitor and revenue stats when sites report them, and alert from one dashboard instead of tab-hopping Railway, Stripe, and host consoles.

Origin

Publishers and multi-site operators already had a login for every host, analytics property, and payments account. “Is everything up?” meant a tour. DashCanopy was built as the canopy over that portfolio — monitoring and stats, while hosting and payments stay with the providers you already use. The Canopy Method names that operating rhythm.

The tour was the product problem. A host console answers whether a service it owns is running. An analytics property answers whether that property recorded visits. A payments account answers whether charges landed. None of those logins is a list of every site you operate, with one definition of online and one place for the stats those sites report. The method is the rhythm that replaces the tour: the same dashboard, on the cadence of the plan you chose, with alerts when a check fails.

DashCanopy does not become the host and it does not become the payment processor. When a check fails, the host login is still where you read logs or ship a fix. When a charge needs a refund, the payments account is still where that work happens. The canopy is the place you look first, so those other logins are for action rather than for the morning roll call.

Steps

Run the method in this order. The intervals, site caps, and alert channels below are the ones on the DashCanopy pricing page.

  1. Add sites to the canopy — Each site becomes a dashboard tile. Add every public host you operate, including the publication, the app, the docs, and any campaign subdomain that can go quiet without a separate login to remind you.
  2. Health checks on plan cadence — Starter checks every 10 minutes for up to 5 sites. Pro checks every 5 minutes for up to 15 sites. Agency checks every 1 minute with unlimited sites. Those intervals and caps are the ones listed on the pricing page.
  3. Connect stats where supported — Visitor and revenue figures appear when sites are set up to report them. Starter, Pro, and Agency each include visitor and revenue tracking. The numbers sit on the same tile as the health signal.
  4. Configure alerts — Email notifications are included on Starter. Pro and Agency add webhook event ingestion and SMS alerts that use your own Twilio account. Higher tiers do not replace email; they add the channels the pricing page lists.
  5. Daily operating rhythm — Use the same screen and the same definitions. Online means the last health check succeeded. Offline means it did not. Use the host login when you need to fix the origin. The dashboard is the check; the host is the repair.
  6. Manage billing self-serve — Logged-in customers open the Stripe Customer Portal from Manage billing on the pricing page or at Settings → Payments & Plan (/settings/payments). In that portal you can cancel or update payment methods. The same path is described on the cancel-billing answer.

Plan cadence, stats, and alerts

Health checks ask whether the site responded. A successful response is online. A failed check is offline. Sites that respond slowly can show as degraded when the response time is above the product’s threshold. You do not sign in to the host to learn which of those three the last check produced.

Starter is the 5-site tier: health checks every 10 minutes, visitor and revenue tracking, uptime status badges, and email notifications. Pro raises the cap to 15 sites and shortens the check to every 5 minutes, and it adds webhook event ingestion plus SMS alerts that use your own Twilio account. Agency removes the site cap, checks every 1 minute, and keeps the Pro alert channels, including webhooks and SMS with your own Twilio account.

Visitor and revenue stats are not a second analytics suite you have to reconstruct each morning. They show when a connected site reports them, including through the platform push options the product documents for WordPress, Shopify, Wix, or a custom site. A quiet tile can then be read as a traffic change or as a failed check, because both numbers are on the tile.

Alerts follow the plan so the rhythm does not depend on someone having the dashboard open. Starter sends email. Pro and Agency can also text you when a Twilio account you bring is configured, and they can ingest webhook events into one feed. AI features, where the pricing page lists them, use a bring-your-own OpenAI key. Provider charges stay on that provider account.

Billing stays in the app

The method includes how you pay for the canopy. Logged-in customers do not email support to open a subscription screen. Manage billing on /pricing and Manage billing at /settings/payments both create a Stripe Customer Portal session. In the portal you cancel or update payment methods. Stripe returns you to /settings/payments.

Paid plans on the pricing page are Starter at $19 per month, Pro at $69 per month, and Agency at $149 per month. Each paid plan shows a 7-day free trial. Annual billing is $190, $690, and $1,490 per year. The cancel answer on this site matches the portal path: sign in, open Manage billing, and cancel in the Stripe Customer Portal. The Terms of Service say cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

If Manage billing says there is no billing account yet, start a subscription from the pricing page first. A login with no checkout behind it has nothing to cancel. After Stripe has a customer for the account, the portal path above is the self-serve control.

Common questions

The short answers below use the same definitions as the steps: monitoring and stats on one dashboard, hosting and payments left with the providers you already use.

What is the Canopy Method?

The Canopy Method is DashCanopy’s named multi-site monitoring rhythm: each site is a tile, health checks run on the plan cadence, visitor and revenue stats appear when sites report them, and alerts come from one dashboard.

Does DashCanopy host my sites?

No. DashCanopy is monitoring and stats only. Hosting and payment processing stay with the providers you already use. Use the host login when you need to fix an origin that failed a check.

How do I cancel?

Sign in and open the in-app Stripe billing portal. Manage billing on the pricing page or at /settings/payments opens the Stripe Customer Portal, where you can cancel or update payment methods. The same path is written up at /answers/cancel-billing-self-serve.

How much does DashCanopy cost?

Starter is $19 per month, Pro is $69 per month, and Agency is $149 per month. Each paid plan shows a 7-day free trial. Starter checks up to 5 sites every 10 minutes, Pro checks up to 15 sites every 5 minutes, and Agency checks unlimited sites every 1 minute.
